50 Days of Faith – A celebration of the season of Easter – Week #8
The Day of Pentecost marks fifty days since Easter Day and brings the Easter season to an end. Pentecost commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and followers of Jesus Christ, empowering them to begin the work of making disciples. Jesus had promised his followers that, although they would not see him after his Ascension, they would receive the Holy Spirit to guide and inspire them.
We offer this prayer as we begin the season of Pentecost and as we celebrate our 183rd anniversary at Trinity.
Prayer of the week- Prayer for a Task Unfinished-A prayer for Easter week 8
Lord of the Harvest, You gave Your disciples the mandate to be Your witnesses around the world. You empowered them with Your Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost to accomplish this task. Today, we ask that You help us to refocus our attention, as we face a task unfinished. We remember and celebrate our local church anniversary. We anticipate the new thing you will do in our midst today. We trust that you will continue to build your church in our community. You have blessed us with the power and the gifts of Your Holy Spirit. Help us to use these for ministry and witness. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!
