An except from report of Conference President, Wanda Stride
For 94 years we have met as congregations, presbyteries and a conference. We have built relationships, both personal and ecclesiastical. As Christ’s gathered body we have served our communities at home and abroad, we have rejoiced, we have lamented. We have built structures and programs that bring us closer to God’s realm…
This year’s conference is going to have a different feel! Our worship team is preparing dynamic, musical and meaningful worship to help us work through any sense of loss because of the proposed changes, and to help us rejoice at the possibilities before us as we move into Christ’s future…
This year at CAM, we are honouring the work and joy of Christ’s faithful family in Bay of Quinte Conference through song, art and spoken word. The entire meeting will be worship-full. This past year I have visited each presbytery, the UCW, youth, executive, and asked them questions about our past, present and future, about our identity. When you come to the annual meeting you will be presented with a song-book, a collection of the songs of our conference, a snapshot of life over this past year. You are welcome to use these songs in worship in your home congregation…
We will have opportunities to express our gratitude, love, frustration, confusion… anything that is on your heart, in an art installation “Church Under Construction”. This graffiti- style art installation will be open as long as we are gathered at Trinity United, with sharpies available for your to write as you need. Rev. Mary Margaret Boone will be taking photos of people’s messages and projecting them throughout the weekend.
It’s not business as usual, but over this past year I have learned what an inspiring, faithful, supportive and hard working conference we are. Whatever region or conference we belong to in the future, that won’t change.
